  • What do I need to apply for a loan?

All applicants need to be Australian residents, over the age of 18 and earning an income from any employment or a pension.

  • Where can I see my credit history?

For Australian citizens, you can obtain your credit history from Experian, Illion and Equifax. These credit reporting bodies must provide consumers with free access to your credit report every 12 months.

If you've been refused credit within the last 90 days, you’re eligible for a free credit report.

  • Can I get finance if I’m currently bankrupt?

RateSmart Finance does not assist clients who are currently bankrupt or under debt review. But once discharged, we can look to assist.

  • What are my repayment options?

Repayment options are determined based on the type of loan you’re applying for, current interest rates and the lenders selected. Generally, most lenders will offer a monthly, fortnightly or weekly direct debit repayment as standard.

  • What if I have been declined elsewhere?

Its always worth getting a second opinion. Not all brokers are created equal. With a large panel of lenders, and our expertise, we can re-assess your application without further impairing your credit.

  • Do you do credit history checks?

Yes. As part of our process, we always conduct a thorough credit history check. However, if we do find discrepancies in your credit history, we will contact you directly to discuss it and try and assist where we can.

  • Do I have to apply for a loan online?

RateSmart Finance can also assist you over the phone. However, you will need access to email for us to send and receive the necessary documents from you. Call us on 03 8905 3731
